Verdun was adapted by Abstraction Games for both Xbox One and PlayStation®4. I was mainly involved in redesigning the complete UI to make sure the game felt more at home on consoles, as the original game had menu’s tailored especially for Mouse & Keyboard input.
This change was a massive undertaking as Verdun has a pretty complex and deep menu structure that allows for various unlocks & progression systems and player character and game setups. The youtube playthrough below starts with some of my work and menu’s and the different structures are shown throughout the video.
Redesigning the UI required thorough research into the original game’s many possibilities and features. Not only did I want to make the menu’s user friendly, I wanted to expose the hidden options as to make them more accessible to all players.
Not only did I do the research, design & layouting, I also did all the in-game assets and made sure the interactions felt rewarding.
