Delicious: Emily’s Wonder Wedding was a great project, we took the time to explore the possibility of releasing this game in episodes.

We opted for weekly released episodes, containing 2 story levels and a new bonus level that provided additional (replay) value we feel episodes needed. Story wise, we made sure each episode ended in a cliff hanger and for the first time, we added leveling-up products for Emily to sell, which gave the player always a reason to continue playing.

With this game we also tried to emphasize the story through gameplay that would target specific emotional responses. One of my favorite examples happens at the start of the game where we see Emily being nervous about her mother-in-law visiting for the first time. In our efforts to make a good impression on her mother-in-law, we’re tasked (as Emily & as Player) to dress up the restaurant, do some additional cleaning and decorating the whole place, even put up a “welcome mom” banner.
